Healthy Breakfast Made Easy

Quick Healthy Breakfast

Do you often skip breakfast? If you do then you are begging your body to store fat! Skipping breakfast is, basically, starving yourself for almost half a day!
Nutrition is the key to successful weight loss. Going for long periods of time without food sends your body into a catabolic state. What is catabolism?

There are two states that the body can be in:

  1. Anabolic (muscle building)
  2. Catabolic (muscle breakdown)

When your body senses that it is “starving” it sends itself into a catabolic state. It will begin storing fat and breaking down muscle fibers into BCAAs for energy! Catabolism naturally lowers your metabolism… a weight loss disaster!

The ideal breakfast consists of:

  • Protein (reverses catabolism and rebuilds muscle)
  • Complex Carbs (provides you with long-term energy)

Quick and Easy Breakfast Ideas:

  • Plain Oatmeal and Flavored Whey Protein Powder
  • Egg White Omelet and Whole Wheat Toast
  • Egg Whites and Veggie Breakfast Burrito (Whole Wheat Pita or Wrap)
  • Natural Granola and Low Fat Yogurt
  • Greek Yougurt with Fresh Blueberries

So, if your typical day starts with only a cup of coffee before you rush out the door you are undoing all the hard work you put into your fitness program. I hear the protests now… “But I’m not hungry first thing in the morning!”
Start slow – develop your new healthy habits by having a small serving of low fat yogurt or a handful of berries. Work up gradually into a complete breakfast; your body will adapt and start to become used to eating more in the mornings!
